For those looking for an action-packed smoothie filled with calories (gotta stock up after hitting the gym) and want to replenish their body with calcium, protein, and vitamins, look no further. I personally feel so refreshed and motivated to seize the day after drinking this nutrient-packed smoothie, and plus, it tastes just like a milkshake. Could it get any better than that?
Here are some of the ingredients to get your killer smoothie ready to go:
Total prep time: 5 minutes
For 1 serving
1 ½ – 2 cups almond or coconut milk
1 cup raw kale
2-4 pitted deglet noor dates, or any other kind that you prefer
1 fresh or frozen banana
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 chunks of raw, frozen coconut meat
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
1 teaspoon of Moon Juice probiotics
A pinch of cinnamon
If you’d like, add bee pollen for topping
- Place all of the ingredients into a high-powered blender. Blend until the texture is smooth and creamy, and if need be, add more milk or water to thin the smoothie. For a more frozen smoothie, add ice. Once the smoothie is just the way you want it, pour into a glass and top with bee pollen.
So now that we’re done with the technicalities, let’s talk about some of the ingredients.
Dates are an extremely healthy fruit to include in your diet, as they are high in numerous nutrients such as fiber, iron, and potassium. Their health benefits range from improving digestion to decreasing risk of disease, and growing up, my mom would always make sure my family had 1 date in the morning to start off our day. This plant-based sweetener is the reason this is a secret ingredient to making this smoothie taste like a milkshake.
Of course, a smoothie wouldn’t be a smoothie without some calcium goodness thanks to milk, and almond and coconut milk tend to be easy on the stomach while providing plenty of calcium. Bananas are on the same boat with its possession of calcium, but they also provide large amounts of potassium to offer an instant boost of energy. We also can’t ignore the fact that bananas are smoothie’s best friend, as they make smoothies creamy, sweet, and delicious.
Greens are another amazing source of calcium as well as oh so many vitamins. We all know that greens are packed with nutrients, some of them being fiber, vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, folate, and potassium. They will be the source of the glowing complexion your smoothie will give you! Chia seeds are also nutrient-packed (did you know they are considered to be one of the most healthiest seeds in the world?), and provide a chock full of calcium, protein, and omega 3’s.
Moving on to our glorious Almond Butter, this creamy nut provides healthy fats that leave you feeling full longer along with protein and calcium. As for the probiotics, listen. They are SO good for you (I mention them in this article about kombucha as well), and support a healthy gut as well as boost nutrient absorption. Probiotics are an essential key ingredient in this smoothie, as it allows for easier digestion, increased energy, stronger immunity, and of course we can’t forget, really get that skin to glow.
Whew! What a nutrient powerhouse. This smoothie is so delicious and easy to make, and I really hope you guys try it out. Are you going to try this Super Smoothie? Let me know down in the comments below!
